Message from the President
Dear Fellow Practitioners, Students and Supporters of Ayurveda,
Welcome to The California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine(CAAM) ! I am delighted to be serving as CAAM’s President, and working with a truly dedicated all-volunteer Board. Much has changed since my first service as Founding President from 1999 to 2003. We have seen the Ayurveda Profession grow from just one Certified College to several Educational Institutions. Now Ayurveda is not only being taught in specialized schools, but also universities, online, through private mentoring and oversees internships. The Profession is growing and integrating into acceptable forms of Integrative Healthcare.
California has always led in standards of healthcare and wholistic disciplines in the U.S. Today we are proud to note that arguably the largest number of Ayurveda Professionals practice in this State. With growth comes responsibility; a need for regulation to protect the citizens, set acceptable standards and a scope of practice for stability and consistency for the Ayurveda Professionals. Furthermore it is imperative to educate our communities about what Ayurveda is and what makes it a unique body, mind and soul healthcare system that impacts the individual, their environment and our community at large. Ayurveda traverses many frontiers and affects our individual wellbeing while also influencing the society we live in.
Our vision in CAAM is to support and protect this great practice in its integrity, as Ayurveda Practitioners grow in California. There is a keen interest and pursuit of Ayurveda by Physicians, Naturopaths, Licenced Acupuncturists. Yoga Practitioners, Researchers, Psychologists, Massage Therapists and our Community at large. Somewhere with the growth of science and technology in our age, a deep call for connectedness to our wellbeing, our environment, the reflection of nature’s rhythms within ourselves is being invoked. Ayurveda is answering this call. In all of our diversity, Ayurveda offers harmonious unifying answers. It is integral to the health of our people.
CAAM is Community – an Ayurveda based Community that is inclusive and serves to support and spread Ayurveda in California. We invite you to join us and be part of this paradigm shift. Whether you join as a member, volunteer, donor, or a sponsor, let us work as a community and participate in a movement that will affect with lasting results, future generations to come!
Mamta Landerman, CAS
